Frequently asked questions

When should I get in contact about organising my wedding flowers?
As soon as possible. We were fully booked last wedding season and had to (unfortunately) turn down a lot of weddings. We usually start to book up around May /June for the next Summer wedding season. Once you have your date, location, approximate guest numbers an idea of your colour scheme and style get in touch and book in your consultation.

Do I have to book a consultation?
Consultations are only really necessary if you would like to discuss in detail your ideas for each arrangement. If you like our style and are quite relaxed just send us an email with your ideas and we can go from there.

I know nothing about flowers, where do I start?
It's okay, that's our job! We are here to help make choosing your wedding flowers easy. The best place to start is to find some floral inspiration. Check out websites like pinterest or wedding blogs like Together Journal, NZ Wedding Magazine etc. With Pinterest you can start to save images that you like and soon you will find that you gravitate towards a certain style or colour combo. The next thing you will need to do is write a list of arrangements you will be needing.  For example: Brides bouquet x 1, 3 x Bridesmaids bouquets, 4 x Buttonholes, 4 extra Buttonholes for family, 8 x Aisle Posies, 1 x Arch, 1 x Entrance arrangement, 12 x Table arrangements, 1 x Head Table arrangement. Then when we meet we can go through each arrangement and discus in detail what options we can create for you.

I live overseas (or out of town)  but will be getting married in Wellington, how can we arrange a meeting?
No problem, this is more common than you probably think. We can book in a time to have a phone meeting that works in with us both and talk through everything just the same as meeting in person. We can share images/ ideas through email and from there we can keep in touch and if it works out, we can organise a time to go through everything in detail if you are planning a trip to Wellington before your wedding or the week of.

How can I book my wedding flowers with you?
Our bookings are first come, first serve basis.  Once we have had a meeting to discuss your requirements, I then send through a detailed quote. At this stage in the process you are pencilled in with us. When you have read through and decided what options you would like to go with, I will send you through payment instructions for paying your deposit and securing your date with us. To book your wedding flowers with us, we require a 25% deposit to secure your date. The final balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding date.

How much do wedding flowers cost?
When it comes to wedding flowers, not one wedding is the same and there are so many different variables that will effect the cost of your wedding flowers such as the style, the season, the flowers, the number of bridal party members, the amount of guest tables, whether you want to go all out with ceremony flowers or just the venue flowers or both... the list goes on...

We work with all different budgets and sizes and in all honesty it varies so much that it is hard to answer that question. Going by the average spend last season, for couples that got the floral works (bridal party flowers, ceremony flowers, reception flowers etc.)  they spent on average between $3000- $4000 on their wedding flowers. Keep in mind, it varies hugely based on volume. Some had smaller intimate weddings so their wedding flowers cost less, others went all out and had more floral styling for decor which cost more.  There is no set cost which is why its best to have a budget in mind, sit down together and discuss your individual floral requirements and work out what will work best for you.

Do we have to source our own vases?
No, not at all! Unless you have a specific vase you want to hire from elsewhere, we highly recommend not buying anything for a one time use. We offer complimentary vase hire if you choose to go with us for your wedding flowers.  The deal is you just bring them back in the same condition so we can re- use them for future events. We have a huge array of  bottles, jars, glass vases, brass vases, tin buckets, tea light candle votives and lanterns in different styles such as vintage, rustic, classic and modern. We also have a lovely selection of other great hire products to help put those finishing touches on your wedding day and our selection is growing with each season. We have a gorgeous wooden free standing chalkboard welcome sign, french country easels, white plinths, large white urns, shepherds hooks, Archways the list goes on- just ask if there is something you are after in particular and we will let you know if we have it otherwise we can probably point you towards a place to hire it.

Do you travel for weddings?
Yes we do! Most weddings we do are often in the Wairarapa or Kapiti Coast regions. There is a delivery/ set up fee cost and this is charged on an hourly  rate of travel time, set up time and how many florist are required to create your wedding flowers at the venue. This can only be priced once we know what arrangements you are needing.

Can we arrange a family member to collect to save on delivery fees? Absolutely! If you are only after the essentials such as bouquets, buttonholes and table arrangements and they are all self contained ( in vases) and you don't need a professional to set them up at the venue then we recommend this option if you have a family or friend that you trust with a big enough car.

I love Peonies, will they be available for my wedding date?
Unless you are getting married between late October and December then unfortunately not. These are an incredibly popular flower choice but they only have a very short season and every year it changes by a few weeks, perhaps this is part of what makes them so special! We are all about working with what is in season and there is always other beautiful alternatives!
